WEDDINGS at Emmanuel

wedding

Wanting to get married at Emmanuel?  We would be delighted to help!  Contact us via e-mail or ring the church office on  0752 767 1437. We try and make sure your wedding is a special occasion, and hope to support you as you prepare.  If either of you have been married before, the vicar will need to run through a few questions with you.

BAPTISMS and THANKSGIVINGS at Emmanuel

BabyHere at Emmanuel, we are delighted that you are considering this important expression of love and commitment. Therefore, we ask all people in your position to do the following:

  • Over the next couple of months come along to church at least four or five times.   This will help you in a number of different ways: you will become more familiar with the church building; you will gain a deeper appreciation of the Christian faith; and you will come to know members of the church family.

  • At the end of each service you attend please mention your presence to the vicar or church wardens.  This provides you with an opportunity to ask any questions or share any thoughts which may have arisen during the service.

  • After coming along to church four or five times, you will be in a better position to decide if you would like to go ahead with making arrangements for your child’s Baptism. Some parents decide that they are not ready to make the promises made during a Baptism Service, and instead they decide to have a Thanksgiving Ceremony.  The vicar and other church leaders will discuss this decision with you. When you have decided upon either a Baptism Service or a Thanksgiving Ceremony for your child, the next step is to choose a date and service time.

  • At Emmanuel Church, Baptism Services or Thanksgiving Ceremonies take place on the third Sunday in each month. It is your choice as to whether you would like to use the 9.00am service or the 10.30am service.

  • If you have chosen a Baptism Service for your child, the vicar or other church leaders will arrange to meet with you in the church a week or so prior to the service. This meeting will help you and your child’s godparents to prepare for the Baptism Service. It also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the promises you will make on behalf of your child.

We hope we have answered some of your questions, but, if you require further information, please contact the vicar or the parish administrator..
