PEOPLE

This will give you a rough guide to who can be of assistance at Emmanuel should you wish to find anything out!  It gives you an idea too of how the church works week by week.  Of course, everyone is important as the whole body works together, but these people may be useful to know...

Rev. Adam ReedVicar.  Reverend Adam Reed.

Tel: 01287 622007

Administrator-- Christine Pollard.  Under God, she holds up half the sky.  Chris works in our office, 9.30-2.45 Tuesday-Friday, and is overseeing grant applications for our building project. As well as being an administrative miracle she makes amazing soup.  She's married to Andy and is mother of Hannah and Craig.

Email Chris at emmanuelsaltburn@hotmail.co.uk
or ring our office on 0752 767 1437
(9.30 to 2.45, Tuesday to Friday)

Hours may vary during holiday periods, please leave a message and we will get back to you.

Peter Jones assists with "verging", spends hours down the church shop, is on the pcc and does a good Tom Jones impression.  He's not unusual.

Treasurer.  George Brignall helps us steward the money God has given us to look after.  He's very good at it, having done it for quite some time.  He also spends copious amounts of time in the church shop, with his wife Margaret, and enjoys reconditioning sewing machines.

Churchwardens:

Anne  Findlay.  Anne enjoys silk painting, travelling, and artichokes.  She's been churchwarden for a while, but is as fresh as a daisy, and full of passion for the kingdom.

Steph HanczikSteph Hanczik is newly retired from teaching, has great organisational skills and can make some gorgeous desserts.

Beth Sigsworth.  Beth is a deputy warden and oversees things when Anne is away.  She's married to Matthew and is mother of Naomi and Timothy. She makes beautiful soap.  Beth also helps lead children's work and is the PCC secretary.

Doorways:

Doorways Co-ordinator.  John Pearson works at the Doorways Youth Project in Saltburn, reaching out to young people through activities, signposting and mentoring.  He's married to Vanessa and enjoys creative prayer through dance, labyrinths etc.

Pastoral care co-ordinators:

Sue Welburn.  Sue oversees bereavement care with Margaret Bennett.  She's also on the leadership team and the pcc, runs a community group and works full-time in education.  She's got more beans than Heinz and knows how to have a good time (as you can see).  She's married to Ian.

Margaret Bennett.  Margaret oversees bereavement visiting with Sue.  She's a reader and is on our leadership team.   She's crafty (in an arty way) and is married to Malcolm.  She oversees our "Prayerways" team - praying on the streets on Saturday mornings.

Emmanuel Parish Church Council (PCC):

Betty Jones is married to Peter and mother to Lyndsay. She helps with the verger duties and is also on the PCC. She enjoys looking after her twin grand daughters and she works at the local senior school.

Margaret Brignall is on the PCC, Deanery Synod and is famous for helping to run the best shop in town.  She has the honour of being married to the treasurer and enjoys walking.

Roger Elgood is on the PCC and on the Alert committee.  He enjoys a good pipe and a brew, which he works off down the gym.

Lyndsay Jones is on the PCC, is a teaching assistant and part of the Jones family, though she doesn't do Tom Jones impressions (as far as I know).  She's a great server on Sundays and very patient.

Annette Adams is on the PCC and works tirelessly for fairtrade and Tradecraft.  (Annette hosts a fairtrade stall every Sunday morning in the church hall).

Barbara's picBarbara Greene is on the PCC.  She's an amazing women who also heads up the prayer ministry team at Emmanuel.

Steve's picSteve Hall is a lovely guy, is good with money and he is also on the PCC.

Alison H's picAlison Hullah is another lovely lady who holds fab body shop parties and does a mean pedicure.  Alison is on the PCC.

Ruth S's picThe lovely Ruth Steere is also one of our newest PCC members. She loves animals and knows where to buy the most delicious biscuits.

Norman Pictor is on the PCC and Deanery Synod.  He doesn't miss a trick, plays clarinet in our music group and likes to tango.

Jeni Pringle is on the leadership team, PCC, and is a reader.  She's also highly artistic and a proud grandmother which can make her quite busy.

Matthew Sigsworth has not just been let out to play, as his photo might suggest, but he is on the leadership team, PCC and a reader.  He's married to Beth, father of Naomi and Timothy and has a thing about VW campervans.

Marjorie Wieland is on the PCC and enjoys poetry and fossil hunting.

More leaders... we are blessed!:

David Lester is a retired vicar married to Elizabeth, who has moved up from the Nottingham area.  Think he's tanned?  I'm afraid that's not Saltburn, but Spain.

Eric Norris.  Eric has been a vicar in many places, but has now finally found the promised land, and retired here.  He's married to Audrey.

Verger. Rest in Glorious Peace. Thank you Norman.

Norman Shadlock passed away on Wednesday 21st July 2010. He had been looking after Emmanuel for decades.  He understood more about church buildings than you or I will ever know.
He was a legend and it was a privilege to know him.
